Adults

The adult ministry exists to draw us together as Kingdom builders in our lives, our homes, our jobs, our community, and our church. We strive to be continually growing in our relationship with Christ through prayer, studying His word, fellowship and service. There are opportunities to do each of these through our Bible Classes on Sunday and Wednesdays and through the activities planned by our men's, ladies' and family life ministries.

Small Groups are another great way to grow in faith, practicing accountability and becoming stronger disciples for Christ.

“Encouraging Words: A study of Hebrews”: Life is a journey that sometimes takes us to situations or relationships that can challenge our faith.  While we may not stop believing in God we struggle to understand who we are to be and what we are to do.  Our worship can grow cold and our service become a drudgery done out of obligation instead of desire.  We can find ourselves comparing our experience to that of others and find ourselves wanting.  The book of Hebrews is a letter of encouragement that speaks through the ages to answer our questions and focus our sites on the Savior.  These are words that can heal our wounds and reinvigorate our faith.

Current Class Schedule

Sunday - 9:00 a.m.
Wednesday - 7:00 p.m.

"Down to the Water", Various Teachers (FLC 1 & 2): Because the Bible was written in a part of the world where water is scarce, it is a valued resource, although it is sometimes associated with danger, even death. But it is also used in cleansing and is symbolic of God's blessing and spiritual refreshment and salvation. We sing of deer panting for water and long for God in the same way. Water is everywhere in Scripture. Many of the most memorable stories in the Bible have water in the story as an essential element. This summer in our Sunday morning classes, we will focus on how God has used water to help tell His story through the eyes of Jonah, Noah, Joshua, Naaman, the Disciples, Jesus, Moses, and more.

"That the World May Know", Teacher(s) TBA (Dining Room):  Two of Ray Vander Laan’s Faith Lessons video studies, filmed on location in Israel: Fire on the Mountain (When the Israelites left Egypt, they were finally free. Free from persecution, free from oppression, and free to worship their God. But with that freedom comes a new challenge – learning how to live together the way God intends) and Walking with God in the Desert (Are you going through a difficult period of life? The loss of a loved one? Unemployment? A crisis of faith? During these desert times, it’s easy to think God has disappeared. In Walking with God in the Desert you’ll discover that it’s only when we are totally dependent on him that we find God is closer than ever and can experience his amazing grace and provision).

"How Did We Get Here?", Daryl Hayes (FLC 1): Have you ever wondered why various churches do things differently?  Have you ever wondered why there are so many different kinds of churches?  A study of church history reveals some interesting and sometimes wildly unexpected answers to those and many other questions.  Join us in the Bible Class Time Machine as we hop through 2000 years of history.  Buckle up!  It’s a wild ride with many unexpected loops and turns.

"Mountaintop Experiences", Jody Burch (FLC 2): This year's theme is High Places. There are many places in the Bible where man encounters God. Many of those are on literal mountains. This class will explore how man interacts with God on the mountaintop as well as how God intersects with man on the mountaintop all while staying on the "level" ground of Bartlesville.

"Knit Together", Tammy Ross/Ladies’ Class (17 in Youth Center): Class will start with a short devotional.  We have plenty of yarn and needles and people to teach knitting and crocheting.  Items made in class can be donated to a variety of charities.
